bulk rename "gymnastics" - import create dates to new files?

Postby dvault101 » Thu May 02, 2024 12:41 pm

I have a bit of gymnastics to figure out. I have a collection of wedding pictures, and I want them to stay perfect, so I had converted them to jpg 2000 format. Ordinary jpg is "lossy" (so it will degrade over time), but it also has exif data, like date (& time) taken, etc. JPG2k, which is lossless, will keep the picture perfect, but doesn't have exif data.

I still have the original files, which have the exif data. If I extract that to a CSV, how can I get BRU to update the timestamp for -each (new) file- accordingly? Updating each individual picture one by one is, to put it mildly, not very efficient. Suggestions?

JPEG is a lossy compression method.
But it does not "degrade over time".

When you convert something to jpg or do some action on a jpg (like resizing or cropping), that is lossy.

But just because a file is in a jpg format does not mean that it will degrade in any way (just by sitting around)
