A swapping-ground for Regular Expression syntax

Swapping Folder Numbers

Postby pheiny » Fri Jul 17, 2015 3:02 pm

Hi,

I have thousands of folders with patient data in each one. Each folder is just a number eg. 1, 2983, 4498, etc. We are transitioning to a new practice management software and the new software will take this data, but rearrange the folder numbers. Normally this would be fine, but another X-ray software will not pull the folder numbers... anyways, what I need to do is find an easy way to convert the existing folder numbers to the new folder numbers in the new database. And no, I cannot just copy the new folders to the existing x-ray software, I wish it was that easy.

I will be getting a list of all the conversions (eg folder 2 is now folder 5, etc)

How would you, with a list of the conversions, convert all the existing folder names into the new numbering system.

Folders: 2356 to 534 , etc

Thank you,

Phil
