Change Mac file name special character on a PC

Postby motherraphaela » Thu Mar 02, 2017 5:19 pm

Hi,

I have a large number of files that were created on a MAC. When I view the directory on a PC they appear as 01·01·95. The · appears to be in bold. I want to rename them as 01_01_95. I can't find a way to create the · character. Ascii isn't working (Alt0183). I've also tried bullet characters and that doesn't work either. I suspect what is appearing as the dot was actually created as a space on the MAC.

I'd appreciate any and all suggestions. Changing them by hand will be very tedious.

Thank you,

It looks to be, Unicode Character 'MIDDLE DOT' (U+00B7).

Copy the character & paste it into BRU.
Should work.

Thank you for the suggestion. When I try to copy one character from a file name I either copy the file or get nothing. So, then I tried to do it from DOS and the character that appeared as a dot now appears as a box with a question mark inside it. I can't find any character that looks like that. Am I missing something? Is there a way to copy it directly from the file listing?

Thank you,
