I'm trying to sort a mix of .wav files and .mp3 files that live in a single folder (the .wav files are the master copies, and the .mp3 files are the derivative copies). Each group comes from multiple discs, so that the current filenames are "CD1-Track01.mp3," "CD1-Track02.mp3," and "CD1-Track01.wav," "CD1-Track02.wav," etc. When I sort by name in BRU, they are "interfiled" so that "CD1-Track01.mp3" and "CD1-Track01.wav" are next to each other. I decided to sort by "type" so that it would be easier to rename each group of files. However, when I sort by "type," the list looks like this:
CD1-Track01.mp3
CD1-Track02.mp3
CD1-Track03.mp3
CD2-Track01.mp3
CD2-Track02.mp3
CD2-Track03.mp3
(etc.)
CD2-Track01.wav
CD2-Track02.wav
CD2-Track03.wav
CD1-Track01.wav
CD1-Track02.wav
CD1-Track03.wav
As you can see, the .wav files are out of order. When I try to rename them, I can't simply highlight all of the .wav files and rename, because it gives the new names to the wrong files. The .mp3 files are always in the correct order, but the .wav files always list CD2 before CD1.
It seems to be doing this with every folder, and I can't figure out why. I was under the impression that any sort aside from a name sort would sort by the selected criteria, and then within that criteria it would sort alphabetically/logically. I have tried selecting and de-selecting "logical sorting," just in case, but it seems to make no difference.
Any suggestions? Is this a bug, or is there something here that I am overlooking?
Thanks for any help anyone can give me!
