to many Folders at once ?

Postby Mirach » Sat Feb 08, 2014 3:46 pm

I have thousands of folders containing hundreds or more of files. I want give this files the folders name.
This also works when I only select a few folders. But If I take many, or all, then I get an error message:

f.i. Item X: \ ... \test\xyz.dfx could not be renamed. Target item X:\ ... \test\test001.dxf already exist. Ignore this error and continue ...

As I write. If I select directly the folder "test", then it goes. And of course, the file test001.dxf does not exist in this folder before i start the process. (It takes too long if I select each folder individually.)

What are the other settings, besides 9AppendFolderName & 12SubFolders?
Depending on settings, one issue could be the file-selection order (rename-order).

You may need to sort by SubDir before selecting file rename-order.
With 10Numbering, I'd prob make sure the 10FolderBox is checked.

So long as each newname-per-folder is unique & doesnt already exist, you should be fine.
As a last resort: Options/PreventDuplicates would prove BRU can handle the #folders.
