BRU scans entire network before loading in Win 8.1

Postby mfrie01 » Sat Jun 21, 2014 3:08 am

There needs to be a way to turn off network drive scans when using BRU with Win 8.1. I see the slow/no load problem in several threads, but I believe the problem lies with network scanning in Windows 8.1. I recently bought a new computer loaded with Windows 8.1. I've tried both the 64bit and 32bit versions, and they both take minutes to load. Watching the Task Manager shows the memory loading into BRU along with network activity. When memory gets to about 550MB the program finally opens. However, if I disable my network adapter BRU loads immediately with only about 4MB memory load. I believe the problem is that BRU is going out to the network to load filenames. This is totally unnecessary. There needs to be a 'Local Drives Only' option.

Hi, this issue should be fixed in version 2.1.7.3 , which you can download from here:

32-bit : http://bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Downloads/2.7.1.3/BRU_Setup_WinNTx86.exe
64-bit : http://bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Downloads/2.7.1.3/BRU_Setup_WinNTx64.exe
No-Installer files: http://bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Downloads/2.7.1.3/BRU_NoInstall.zip

Please confirm if that's the case...

thanks!

Oh yes! BRU pops up instantly and with minimal memory load (3MB). I tried the 64 bit version from both the context menu and start menu. Works great! Thank you, I'll be sending money!
