Ranaming Files In Groups (by file extension)

I have a folder of video files where each video file has multiple associated files with different extensions as such:

Clip1.mpg
Clip1.jpg
Clip1.mov
Clip2.mpg
Clip2.jpg
Clip2.mov

I can rename them like this:

001.mpg
002.jpg
003.mov
004.mpg
005.jpg
006.mov

But how do I get it to renumber in groups of threes like this and keep the extensions intact:

001.mpg
001.jpg
001.mov
002.mpg
002.jpg
002.mov

Hi, did you try Selection (12) to select first mpg files and rename those and then jog files and rename those? thanks
