Selecting files without extensions

Postby Jane » Wed Sep 20, 2006 4:47 am

I am trying to select only files without extensions to work on.

Using the selections field Selections(12), if I use * I get all files and if I try *. (which is the way to select no extensions at the command line) I get no files listed.

any suggestions would be appreciated,
Jane

If BRU cannot do it, use win explorer to sort by type and temporarily move all files without extension to another folder...

Hi all,

you could use the "Type" column to sort by type.

1.) Sort this files without ext to the top (for ex. )
2.) Then left click on the first file
- scroll down to the last file without ext
- hold down the Shift-key
- left click on the last file (like in WinExplorer)

If you need the correct sorting of your file names (A..., B... C...)
3.) Use "Extension (11)" and add temporarly an dummy ext like JIM
4.) sort by Name
5.) use "Selection(12)" and *.JIM
6.) do your renaming thing and drop the ext again in one job

HTH?
