Adding publication date to cbr/cbz files. extremely new user

Apologies if something similar has already been asked. I just discovered BRU a few hours ago and I've successfully renamed some files in my comic collection, but I'm stumped on how to add the dates the way I want them.

I have a list of files like this:

Title v1 #01.cbr
Title v1 #02.cbr
Title v1 #03.cbr

I want to add dates formatted like this: (MM-YYYY)

Title v1 #01 (11-1989).cbr
Title v1 #02 (12-1989).cbr
Title v1 #03 (01-1990).cbr

How do I do that?

Hello, see Auto Date (8) and use a custom format. thanks

I thought Auto-Date just pulled dates from a file's metadata. That doesn't work for cbz and cbr files, since the date the comic was published is unrelated to the file.

It's usually on the cover or first page. Otherwise I look it up online. I want to be able to enter one date and have the program add one month to each file after that - assuming it's a monthly series.

Is that possible?

I think the only way is to create a list of file rename pairs in Excel (from -> to) and then import that into BRU (See Import Rename Pairs functionality of BRU).

That's more work than just adding them manually. I guess I'll just keep doing what I've been doing. Maybe in the next version, the devs can add the ability to use dates unrelated to metadata.
