Renmae file as folder namw

Postby rbmcgee » Sun Jul 05, 2015 12:57 am

Hi all, great little program.

I've converted my DVD rips to .mlv's.

In their old format the structure was, for example:

Apollo 13
-> VIDEO-TS
--> all the DVD files

After conversion, the structure is:

Apollo 13
-> title01.mkv

What I need to do is rename the mlv files the name of the folder, ie,

Apollo 13
-> Apollo 13.mkv

I've got hundreds of these movies and I've tried to figure out how to tell BRU to accomplish this task but I cannot figure it out.

Any help would would be greatly appreciated.

Hi welcome.

To append folder name try: "Append Folder Name (9)"

Thanks for your response but I'm looking at that secttion and I really don't understand what to type and where.

Remember, each mkv file is called "title01.mkv" and each mkv is in a unique folder that bears the name of the movie.

In the example from abuve, I need to change title01.mkv to apollo13.mkv. The new name of the file is the name of the folder that contains the file. I don't want to append something to title01, I want to replace the name title01 with a new name.

I need more help.

Outstanding.

I unchecked all options other than #2 and #9

Into #2 I chose "remove"
Into #9 I chose "prefix"

In the top left hand box I chose the folder containing the .mkv file.
I then clicked on the .mkv file in the large box to the right.

I then clicked on "rename" button in the bottom right (which becomes available once the .mkv file is clicked).

BRU renamed the .mkv file to the name of the folder. This is exactly what I wanted.

Now I need this to occur on a bulk level.

Structure:
Root drive
->Movies (folder)
--> Apollo 13
---> title01.mkv
--> Lord of the Rings
---> title01.mkv
etc

I now need BRU to find all the .mkv files in the folder "movies" (each .mkv file will be in their own folder) and rename them all with the appropriate folder name because executing the command for each .mkv file will take forever.

Any tips on searching/filtering to accomplish this?

Fantastic, mission accomplished.

I just recently became aware of BRU and was a little intimidated by its look, but you helped me sort it out.

If anybody else is in my position:

1) Ripped DVDs to VIDEO_TS folder
2) use makeMKVBatchConverter to convert them to .mkv files (they will end up with the file structure I described above)

Then,

3) Use BRU to convert all the title01.mkv names to the names of the folders and you're all set
