Save or Save As options of the Bulk Rename Utility

How do I go about saving the .BRU created file as a output folder not a file? Unable to view the JPG images with Irfanview or other image viewing programs. I would like the output of the program to be in the same format as the input. Hope I explained myself clearly.
Thanks,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Sorry, I'm not sure that I follow what you are trying to do.

The .BRU file is merely a representation of all the controls and tickboxes on the screen, e.g. to save your current "configuration". I'm not sure where Irfanview comes into play?

Thanks for your prompt reply. Isn't the .bru file the output of the bulk rename utility? What I am trying to do is create a folder, not a file, with the jpg filenames in the input folder changed to reflect the dates the pictures were taken using the bulk rename utility.

example: input folder contains:
Picture 068.jpg
Picture 069.jpg
...etc...

output folder with renamed files :
040418Picture 068.jpg
040418Picture 069.jpg
...etc...

How do I go about creating the output renamed files folder?
Thanks,
Patrick

No, the .BRU file is just a copy of your settings. Open it in Notepad and you will see what I mean.

Do you want to put the files into the same folder or a different folder? If the same folder then you really have nothing to do. Just rename them, and that's it! Select the files, create your "new name" from all the tickboxes and buttons on the screen, and hit the Rename button.

Jim: Thanks for your prompt reply. OK, now I understand. I thought the .BRU file was an output file containing the renamed files. Actually, I would like the output in a different folder and sorted by date if possible. Anyway that that could be done?
Thanks,
Patrick

HI Patrick,

Sure, just specify a folder name in the "New Location" box (box 13).
