File Path too long

I have a directory which contains path names with >255 characters (folder + filenames).
I have tried to filter these files in Bulk Rename Utility and then shorten the filenames to result in a path length <255 chars. However I have not found a way to do this.
How would I go about this?
Thanks a lot

Thanks, I tried that and did get a selection of files, but BRU reported by far less files with pathlength than Pathlength Checker. I have attached a screenshot of the result:

There seem to files with pathlengths up to 333 characters, but they don't show up in the BRU Filter.

I tried putting different parameters into the Name Len min and max fields (under Filters), but that did not seem to change anything for path lengths > 250.
Is there another option I would need to enable / set?

See what I wrote here, viewtopic.php?p=7460#p7460.

With a change:

You can then drag that set of files into BRU for processing.

I don't think BRU will accept drag&drop of filenames >260 characters?
(I'm guess >260, but somewhere in that neighborhood.)

Further I'm thinking that, BRU won't even be able to process existing filenames >260 characters - at all?
(It can open a directory <260 where the path+name length is >260.)
And while it can manipulate filenames <260, it would not be able to create a newly renamed file where the filename would be >260.
