Bug: Copying files across subfolders gives copy error

Postby BRUuser » Sat Jun 11, 2016 8:58 pm

Hi,

BRU is a great utility. I would just like to mention a bug I found, using BRU 3.0.0.1 x64.

Copying files from within BRU to Windows Explorer using the context menu (right click on selected files to copy -> Copy), where the files span more than one directory, then pasting to a folder in Windows Explorer gives a Windows copy error, stating it can't find the second file in the second directory because it is checking the first directory for the file.

To recreate the bug:
1. Create a folder A and a subfolder B within A.
2. Copy some files into both folders.
3. In BRU, select folder A and enable Subfolders in Filters(12). All files in folders A and B should then show in BRU.
4. Select the files and right click -> Copy then paste into a folder in Windows Explorer.
5. Windows shows a copy-error dialog stating it can't find a file (because it is looking for it in the wrong directory.)

I hope this issue can be fixed, thanks in advance. :)

First off, love BRU, really really great, big thanks for it! It's a constant companion for managing some audio files I deal with in my home studio (impulse responses/IRs).

That said, I've run into this problem pasting into Windows Explorer too, in v2 as well. I hope it can be fixed at some point.

Drag and drop into Explorer or other apps would be completely awesome too. Its filtering is so much better than Windows will ever be, it's a shame not to be able to make use of it in those ways.

The best workaround I've found isn't very good, but maybe some folks will find it helpful. Ctrl-C in BRU doesn't work, but right-click > Copy does, for only one file at a time. If you have hundreds or even multiple tens of files it's a non-starter, but it was quicker than any alternatives I thought of for around 20.

There's probably a way to automate this from the cmd line, which I haven't explored yet, but plan to.
