Exif data taken

Hi,

I am trying to rename some files based on the date that a JPG image was taken. I am selecting the correct option from the "Auto Date" menu and I do have the Extract exif data flag checked from the Options menu.

However, the exif date taken data isn't not being pulled out from the image.

Any idea please?

Thanks

Could you email me (or make available) a sample jpeg please, so that I can test it here.

The logic for handling EXIF files has changed slightly in the current beta version (on my PC, not on the web) and it handles the date in your sample file correctly. So it will be resolved in a future release.

Unfortunately I haven't the time at the moment to formalise the release, I'm just far too busy with other things. Once I find the time I shall make 2.5.4.0 a formal release.

Ok Jim, thanks for the update. I look forward to the fix in a later release.

Many thanks for your patience. It takes a couple of hours to build and test a release, so I'll get it done as soon as I can.

I can let you have just the raw .EXE file if that helps - it's available here: http://www.aceinternet.co.uk/~jimwillsher/ftp/BRU.exe

That's the 32-bit for NT/2000/XP/Vista

Hi Jim,

I am currently using BRU version 2.5.4.3 on Windows Vista. I am trying to sort my files using the "Date Taken" value but the "Taken" field in BRU is empty for all files. When I go to file properites in Windows Explorer I can see the "Date Taken" value on the details tabs.

Any ideas what might be causing it?

Thanks,

Alan.

Did you tick the "extract EXIF data" menu option?

And are your pictures JPEG images? Most photos these days are TIFF files, but BRU only supports JPEGS.

Jim,

Thanks for that, the simple things that I miss. Sorry about that.
Great great tool by the way, love it. Use it all the time...

Thanks again,

Alan.
