Rename a folder of files

I have a folder of 40 photos from 2 cameras. I want to rename them so they will copy to CD in date order. After a struggle I have grasped the renaming process for a file. Do I have to do all individually or can I rename in bulk?

You should be able to rename the files in bulk, set the renaming process then select all the files.
Without knowing exactly what you're trying to do it's hard to be precise, but you could use the Exif data to prefix the file names with the date taken "Auto Date (8)".

Thanks KenP for response. My wife and I each took several photos over a week. I want to burn them to CD. I do not want hers in a block then mine in a block, I want both lots taken on each day together but they need not be in order on that day. There will be several photos with the same date.
