Renumbering within subfolders in continuous sequence

Postby androidGB » Sun Oct 14, 2007 4:54 pm

I have folders which may contain up to 20 subfolders (numbered 001 to 020) each containing around 15 files (also numbered as above) My ideal solution would be to renumber all of the files , starting off with folder 001 / file 001,
and place the output into a new folder with files running from 001 - 300.

Can this be done ?

A help gratefully received

Hi,

BRU can do most of your request, but not all. If you use the Autonumber feature and tick the "Folder" option, it will rename all the files and restart the numbering on a change of folder. BUT it won't place the output in a different folder, it'll keep the files in the original location.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the very quick response.

Just to confirm things, am I correct in assuming that using the renumber facility the following can happen

Sub folder 001 - files 001 to 015 become 001 -015 ie No change
Sub folder 002 - files 001 to 015 become 016 - 030
Sub folder 003 - files 001 to 015 become 031 - 045 and so on

All from giving the instruction on the main folder

Many thanks

Absolutely.

But the good thing about BRU is....just try it! Highlight your files and you'll see the "new name".
