[NEW BUG] I pushed BRU to it's limits and crashed it.
Posted: Thu Sep 28, 2023 8:51 am
Hi! first time poster here, registered just to report the bug I found.
Firstly, the hardware;
Windows Server 2016 (fully patched)
Tyan s7002, 2x Xeon's, 256GB DDR3-ECC
34TB storage over various raid arrays.
Situation;
Combine my BMS collection into a single folder to create a mega download pack. Use BRU to help with renaming folders to Artist - Title versus whatever mess it is.
Hi, first time poster - registered just to write this.
Windows server 2016:
256GB Ram
Dual cpu
Filesystem/disk in question: NTFS 6TB WD Purple, single JBOD
enough hardware resources.
A project I'm working on required a solution and I googled my way here - i installed the application, rebooted as part of scheduled maintenance etc. then presented BRU 39,048 folders containing 13,115,236 files , i then began searching for nested [unwanted folders] in the left folder tree, found one and deleted it. It did not visually vanish, it remained.
Moving on to another renaming task in the centre pane, the application crashed hard only after I attempted to view the undeletable folder. Reloaded BRU and the folder was no longer present.
Currently on this system;
BRU takes 14 seconds to load the directory containing the size of the mass, as above.
Navigation on left pane to folder using down arrow key; a split second but noticably laggy
Ctrl+A then perform a rename operation takes 8 seconds
Having this many files in BRU is clearly pushing it to the limits. Hopefully this post will help track it down. Possibly a RACE condition.
