Input field ambiguities

Would it be possible to use a non-white background (e.g. pale blue) for text input fields, for example the 'Match', 'Replace' and 'With' fields?

I suggest this because it is not possible to see at a glance the precise string detail with spaces and particularly trailing spaces (and double/single spaces). The use of a non-white background with black-on-white characters would help a lot.
