numbering files

Hi,

I just found this website and am trying to get the information systems department to install this program for me, so I can try it!

Can someone tell me if the following task can be performed?

I'm trying to rename files that are currently named:

p-1.pdf
p-2.pdf
p-3.pdf
etc.

to

001filename.pdf
002filename.pdf
003filename.pdf
etc.

Can this utility do that? Can it check the digit that's already in the file name and make it the first digit with 3 places? I'm not sure that's the same as sequentially numbering files that don't have a digit in them already (?).
