Look and feel

Postby veritasvita » Thu Oct 28, 2010 6:53 pm

I have used BRU for the last three years and recently upgraded to the latest version, 2.7.1.2
Somehow, the look and feel part does not feel quite right, especially the "look" part. I can't pinpoint exactly what's wrong but it feels cluttered and unpleasant to the eyes, especially the lower half. Maybe the vertical lines make it very congested... Am I the only one who feel this way?

Agree.

BRU looks much better on XP, when "manifest" is added:

I am not sure if it is possible to add "manifest" on Win 7, so it looks VERY ugly now:

Any chance for update to "21st Century" look of BRU?

Or is it, as it seems, dead project?

The appearance looks very similar to how some of my own software used to look. Written in Visual C++ it originally used the default MS Sans Serif font and looked horrible on newer versions of Windows and monitors with better resolution. I changed the font in all dialogs to Arial 8 and it made the world of difference. I had to increase the width of some fields because Arial is slightly wider, but it was worth the effort.

But it's what the product does that's most important - this program is a real find. Many thanks!

Too bad!

Is that too complicated to add "manifest" in BRU, so it can look modern on Win7? On WinXP that is no problem, so now BRU can look MUCH better on much older Win

We did try to add the manifest but it caused issues to some of the controls. :(

Oh, well...

I got many questions of people who I recommend to use BRU (or readers of my blog*) why program looks so "win200-like" on Win7, and it looks so nice on my screenshot

How about now? :) Maybe you can now try to make BRU look little bit more "21st Century" ;)
