Hi there
I use v3.0.0.1 on Win8.1
still the same problem: program does not start independent of the way to start it (from the context menu, from a link, directly from C:\Program Files\Bulk Rename Utility.
However, after half an hour the program pops up.
Any idea to get back to "normal start-up behaviour"?
(have not found a solution in the previous entries to this list of posts - the one referring to a new version is obsolete as current version should include fixed done to the previous versions)

Seems new development/support on BRU has ground to a halt. Probably wise to use Win 10? Good luck. Shame really as it is one of the best utilities available. :(

some more details:
after program start (e.g. clicking "bulk rename here" in the context menu") I can see:
1. Process "Bulk Rename Utility.exe" is up and running in Process Explorer, causing permanent CPU load of app. 0,8% and permanent I/O of app. 5KB - something is going on
2. Double clicking this process opens a window "Bulk Rename Utility.exe:8872 Properties"
3. This window allows to click a button "Bring to Front" - I click it
4. If I click it shortly after program start a "Process Explorer Warning" window pops up: "No visible window found for this process"
5. If I click it e.g. 20 minutes later then the normal "Bulk Rename Utility" window opens (possibly the window was open already but below some other windows so that I could not see it)

Sorry for the late reply. I now set "notify me when a reply is posted".

Problem still is there.

Pls. look at the mail to which you responded:

The problem exists not only at start-up but on changing directories as well: clicking at a new directory in the directories window of the user interface might open this directory, might open an empty (blank) directory or simply freeze the user interface. In these cases, after e.g. 10 minutes the directory listing will appear and work normally. So, BRU does work but with incredible delays.

Has anybody a similar experience?
What to do to get rid of these delays?

Hi, are there very large zip files inside these folders that BRU is scanning? thanks

This is an example - a set of small files without extension.

I open BRU by right-clicking on one of the files, then on "bulk rename here"
Now 15 minutes have passed by and BRU still is not open, but eventually it will open, I am sure.
Thanks.
