Corrupted files

Postby sarahfay » Wed Apr 12, 2017 10:40 am

I had three different cameras, each using the IMG_0001 format, so I had multiple photos, taken on different dates but with the same name. I have over 20,000 photos and wanted to merge them into year and sort by date. So this sounded a perfect fix.

However, when I followed this youtube video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZo2jwKFL70

I found about a third of the files were not re-named as they didn't have an original 'taken' date as they had been modified (ie to switch from landscape to portrait) The files are now corrupted an un-readable.

Luckily they are all backed up, but I thought you should be aware of the issue as about a third of my files are now corrupted.

Could you post a link to an original & its associated corrupt file?

Hello, BRU does not change the file contents, it just renames the files by changing their file names.

Hi, how were files corrupted? You can't open them? BRU only changes file names not file content. thanks

Similarly, if you changed the file extension from say .txt to .xxx, then yes the files would be "corrupt" & wouldn't work.
(Actually the files are totally unchanged. Only the name is changed. [To protect the innocent.])
Rename it back from .xxx to .txt, & "all fixed" :-).

More detail would be nice.
