How to change the dates in the filename.

Postby Leene » Wed Jul 16, 2025 9:53 am

I have files with the “valid to” date in the file name as 16-07-2025 (dd-mm-yyyy). I like to change this in 2025-07-16 yyyy-mm-dd. How can I get it done?
Unfortunately, this has nothing to do with the creation or modification date that is often found in the metadata.
I hope you can help me

You can use the "Name (2)" section with the "Reformat Date" option to change the date format in filenames.

Steps:
1. In the Name (2) section, set the dropdown to "Reformat Date".
2. Select the files you want to rename.
3. Preview the new names in the "New Name" column.
4. Click "Rename" to apply.

This will change filenames like "file_16-07-2025.txt" to "file_2025-07-16.txt".

Reference: See (ext)Fixed(2).txt for "Reformat Date" and custom date format syntax.
