Numbering with increment every x files

Postby LordSax » Sat Jan 04, 2020 9:00 pm

Hello,
I am trying to see if there is a way to bulk rename a list of files where the increment only applies to every x files. Meaning I have a video with subtitles and they all should have the same name (i.e. ... - S03E03 - ...). However I would like bulk rename to not increment within those three file names but certainly for the next.

I currently do this by deactivating increment, manually selecting the three files, increase the start and rename. Perform that process for every episode which is quite cumbersome. Can the tool help me do this?

Not sure if add-ons / me toos are allowed here. I am looking to do similar. I have Karaoke files, 1 is .MP3 and 1 is .cdg. It sounds like the OP is asking for the same thing, except using 3 file types or 4 or more.

mike.mp3
mike.cdg
john.mp3
john.cdg

These have no track number, so I want to append a number into the middle at space 10. I can use the auto number, but I get:

mike01.mpg
mike02.cdg
john03.mp3
john04.cdg

I would like to have

mike01.mp3
mike01.cdg
john02.mp3
john02.cdg

Well until an expert chimes in, I can offer a compromise (not exactly what you wanted) -

I can get you to:

john01.mp3
john02.mp3
john03.txt
mike01.mp3
mike02.cdg
mike03.txt

etc.

using

Section #10: Numbering

Mode: Suffix
Start: 1
Incr: 1
Pad: 2
Break: 1
type: Decimal Base 10

If you like this, (and even if you don't) then I refer you to the free Volume I Book at viewtopic.php?f=12&t=4743
It will show you how to use the Bulk Rename Utility program to its fullest.
