How to restrict subsequent renaming onto a subset of files

Postby gkln » Sun Nov 14, 2021 6:19 pm

I want to apply some changes on filenames only on those files that meet some criteria, as for example, if the filename contains somewhere a special substring like "abc", then e.g remove "abc" and suffix the fn with "xyz".
My experiments in the filters-area with a mask like "*abc*.jpg" failed, same on top in the folder address field.
What would be the solution inside BRU (that is, without preselecting the files outside BRU with the help of windows explorer and moving them to a separate folder for BRU-processing)?

Would need the now-names ===> new-names, but there is different ways to conduct renames like this.
The Filters(12) "Mask" should be completed ahead of time, before clicking inside of the folder tree.
Or you can press 'F5' to refresh, or just click the blue-arrows beside "Mask" to conduct your filter.
