How to rename folders to a different date format

Postby NeilF » Fri Mar 04, 2022 4:31 pm

I've just installed Bulk Rename Utility and I'm trying to use if for the first time. I'm have no knowledge of coding, so please go gentle...!

My issue is I'm trying to batch rename a set of folders which have been autogenerated with a date format as the folder name, but not the one I want.

So, my camera (Sony) software, when downloading photos, creates sub-folders for the photos taken on a particular date, with that date becoming the folder name. However, the folder names are by default:-

dd-mm-yy

whereas I want them to be

yy-mm-dd

I've installed Bulk Rename Utility, and drilled down to the main folder for the camera, such that all the date-named sub-folders (which are what I want to rename) are listed in the big window on the right. I'm fairly sure I need to use either the auto date section (8), or the move / copy parts section (6), but I'd really appreciate some guidance on just how to do this.

Many thanks for your help.

I've managed to sort this now, in 2 stages, using the Move / Copy parts (6) function. Worked a treat!

Intuitive software...

Thanks, Neil
