Prevent duplicates ignore file extension

i want to be able to se prevent duplicates but ignore file extension. thanks.

for example,

billygoat123.jpg
billygoat123.png

goes to

billygoat123 (1).jpg
billygoat123 (1).png

i want it to go to

billygoat123 (1).jpg
billygoat123 (2).png

Can you apply Number (10) to rename the files?
