Additional sort

Postby Juergen » Tue Mar 05, 2024 9:06 pm

I had a situation where I wanted to change some filenames in a folder of about 1000 files.
This was a folder of German titles and the specific changes I wanted was:
Code: Select all
change   ae   to   ä   but not e. g.   Michael
change   oe   to   ö   but not e. g.   Joe
change   ue   to   ü   but not e. g.   Bauer, Duett

Only about 50 or so titles for each case were effected. The problem is that not all '[aou]e' should be changed as there are cases where '[aou]e' is correct. I listed some exceptions. Looking through all files, since they change color, and deselecting was cumbersome and I am sure error prone.

So what I thought would help and I am suggesting here if the files with name change could be sorted so they are grouped either first or last (or toggled) and better yet sorted by the full changed word so identical changes would fall together.
Thanks for your consideration.

Ignore this post. I found the feature already there under Display Options > Sorting > Group Affected Files
