How to bulk move files to folders with similar name

Postby Dawnb88 » Thu Jun 06, 2024 2:13 am

I have a main folder called Need to Fix it is on the G drive and inside the folder I have 11 folders all named after movies and there is also the year so it looks like this Patch Adams (1998) and then inside there are files for kodi and also the movie file but now I have downloaded the trailers as well and renamed them so now I'm having issues with moving them from the trailers folder to the folders for there movies. So there are 11 trailer videos inside the trailers folder and each video matches the folder to a extent.

The folder looks like this Patch Adam (1998) but the trailer looks like this Patch Adams (1998)-trailer.mp4 I want to know if its possible to move all the files from the trailers folder to there main folders on the G drive inside the folder called need to fix.

So it looks like this G:Need to Fix\"11 folder"

Movie Titles (YEAR) folders 11 of these
and G:Need to Fix\Trailers inside this folder there are 11 videos which each needs to be moved to there own folders so they show up as trailers inside the kodi program. Is there a easy way to do this if possible. I have been moving them 1 by one and its time consuming I just did it with over 70 files and now I'm going to stop for a bit just to see if there is a easier way to do this. So if there is please point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance.

If you haven't already checked out the two PDF manuals at the top of this forum:

Bulk Rename Utility Operations Manual - VOL I - 2nd Ed (PDF)
Bulk Rename Utility Operations Manual - VOL II - Rev. (PDF)

you might find your answer there. I found both of them quite useful when trying to make sense of the many features and possibilities of BRU.
