Context-menu Delete results in permanent item deletion

Postby sbrasel12 » Fri Mar 07, 2025 1:23 pm

BRU, unlike File Explorer, executes a context-menu Delete by permanently deleting the selected items. For improved user-friendliness and for lower risk of unwanted permanent item deletion, please consider having BRU instead provide the standard Windows action for context-menu Delete by moving the selected items to the Recycle Bin.

Cannot confirm, Win7 x64, BRU 4006.
I get the expected "do you want to delete" Windows dialog (which sends the file to $Recycle.Bin).

Ah, later Windows versions, wonder what they might do?
I thought they kind of silently, by default, simply sends a file to $Recycle.Bin, not even a prompt?

The option for whether a prompt is provided is seen by viewing the properties of the desktop Recycle Bin icon.

In any event, I have no idea how I bungled the testing for this. On Win11 both Shift-Delete and context-menu Delete send the file to the Recycle Bin, as they should.
