Macros, please.

I often need to perform the same tasks on multiple files. Having macros would be really handy—I could just select a group of files, pick the right pre-recorded macro, and be done. At the moment, though, I have to manually fill in values across many fields every time.

while BRU doesn't have a named "macro" feature, you can get exactly the behaviour you want by saving and reusing renaming criteria (and a few other shortcuts). Options that act like macros:

Save/load Favourite (.bru) files (recommended)
- Set up all the controls (Regex, Replace, Add, Numbering, Filters, New Location, etc.) exactly how you want for that “macro”.
- Save the renaming criteria to a Favourite (.bru) file.
- Next time: open that .bru to restore the entire set of controls and just select files and hit Rename.
Notes:
- .bru saves the whole panel state (all options and order if you changed it).
- Use File > Save / File > Open (or the program’s Save/Load favourite controls) to manage these files
