Copy file properties to the clipboard

Postby KHL » Mon Nov 13, 2006 10:27 am

Jim,

I often need to cross-check filenames vs. their creation dates/times.
There must not appear filenames with newer creation dates but "lower" numberings.

Example:
001.pro, created 10.10.06 00:14:24
002.pro, created 10.10.06 05:02:24 -> created later than 003.pro
003.pro, created 10.10.06 02:24:00
004.pro, created 10.10.06 08:32:38

Shown example would result in an error when imported to the database, as it should appear after file 003.pro

The problem is, that I need to export the folder's content to the clipboard/ txt-file for further analysis.
BRU does support this, but unfortunately only copies file-/pathnames w/wo extension to the clipboard, not the whole file information.

So what I wanna ask is:
Any chance to add this feature to BRU's Clipboard copy feature? Perhaps this could be reduced to those data shown in the actually visible columns (just in case one does not need EXIF data etc.?

Thx in advance.

Save file properties into CSV-file

Postby KHL » Wed Nov 15, 2006 10:25 am

Jim,

just another thought:
Perhaps the (shown) properties could also be saved as CSV to improve import to EXCEL?

Sorry not yet. It'll be January before I get time to look at BRU again, other projects in the way...

Hi Jim,

I wanna wish you the best for 2007 and hope you've had a perfect start into.

Sorry to probably bother you with my copy/paste-question to the clipboard and/or Excel (see above), but it really bothers ME, as my boss wants me to create tons of lists of files saved at different servers and I don't know any other/easier/faster solution than BRU.

Cheers.

I'm making some changes to BRU at the moment, as a private commission to a customer for specific requirements (these changes probably won't be made public), so I'm working on BRU at the moment. I will try to get this implemented in the next couple of weeks.

May i post that the file manager Total Commander
is an tool that can do this for you at easy?

You can export the columns you see in Total Commander
to the clip board or to an text file.
What you see in this columns you can set up your own with plugins.

Jim,

thx for quickly trying to resolve my problem.

Could not access the net since some days, so here's my delayed feedback:
My BRU actually shows the columns
Name
New Name
Sub Dir.
Type
Size
Created
Modified
Accessed
Length
Taken
Attributes

Clipboard Copy/Extended File Details exportsimports the following columns to Excel:
File name
Parent folder
File type
Created
Modified
Accessed

Thus some shown columns won't be exported. This does not worry me. But could you please may try to export the complete path rather than the parent folder's name, and the file size as well?
This would be great.

Just another experience I've made:
Would you please check your setup procedures? The new version does not suggest the previous installation folder (2.4.1.1 BETA used C:\Programme\BulkRenameUtility, while 2.4.1.3 BETA suggests C:\Programme\Bulk Rename Utility, resulting in two installations, dead links and de-installation problems within control panel/software.

I wanted to change my signature from 2.4.1.1 BETA to 2.4.1.3 BETA, but you've closed the registration panel. Would you please change it yourself?
Thanks again.

To Stefan:
Thanks for the proposal. Will test Total Commander soon.

I will change it to include the path and size.

I can't change the setup routine I'm afraid, it's a third-party product.
