Get time stamp from file name

Postby XtremeMaC » Wed May 01, 2019 6:42 pm

Hello,

Is there any way the file stamp can be read from the filename?
I have bunch of files that I named like 20190501, but for whatever reason date modified, created etc. is different (for different reasons. Not looking to discuss or resolve why in this post)
Just wondering if it can be implemented into BRU.
Example. 20180815_something.pdf would read created/modified/accessed date to August 15th, 2018.

Thanks!

Hi, do you need to change the file name to match the timestamp or the file timestamp to match the date present the file name? thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

I would like the timestamp (created/modified date) to match the date present in the file name.

Is it possible? Or can it be implemented?

BRU can't change timestamps based on the file name sorry, but it can change the name based on the timestamp.

Similar request noted here, Change file properties with .txt file.

Perhaps the JavaScript end of BRU could pull the "date" portion out from the filename, then pass it along to the touch command to perform the actual timestamp change.
(Actually, I'd think that to be an odd way to go about it.)

In any case, the operation should be scriptable.
If not BRU, a batch file to pull the "date" portion, again sent to touch...

I have been asking for this as well. Change the file dates to match the date incorporated in the filename. This is particularly helpful for photos scanned from print where the file dates default to the scan date. This would enable us to load photos in the correct order rather than getting random photos because the scan dates are identical.
