rename to add video properties?

A swapping-ground for Regular Expression syntax

rename to add video properties?

Postby Thaumaturge » Sat Nov 20, 2021 1:34 pm

Hi all. First time poster here. Love the app and the regex looks powerful but i quickly get lost trying to follow the replies given here for solutions. I have a lot of video files that i might want to rename to add the audio/video codecs and frame height/resolution. Are there set switches or variables BRU uses that i can use to to build new filename templates? for example

Top.of.the.Pops.1976-07-15.avi

becomes

Top.of.the.Pops.1976-07-15.MP3.XviD.576p

I know that windows natively doesnt report advanced codecs in containers so this sort of operation only works on older formats for a lot of renamers, so would bru manage the same properties for mkv/x264 stuff?

cheers

This will not be conducted with anything inside of the RegEx(1).
First to put a checkmark inside for "Renaming Options, ID3/ExifData/FileProperties, Extract Windows File Properties".
Then you can right click on any of the files to "Show List of File Properties" that can be added into the filenames.

If its not listed inside for the windows file properties, then I just use exiftool.exe for adding other types of metadata.
