Changing a file extension

Postby mmgorman » Mon May 09, 2016 5:39 am

Hi:

Downloaded and installed the Version 3.

I need to change the file extension of about 300 files from "sql" to "txt"

Could you please send me a screen shot of just what I have to put where to get this accomplished?

Thanks in advance,
MikeGormanmmgorman@wiscorp.com

Hi I had the same problem as MikeGorman. I am trying to post Word .docx lyrics to a "Setlists" App. that requires plain text (.txt) format and when I individually "Save as" (in Word) as a plain text format they import fine into the App. But when I change the extension with BRN either individually or in bulk I get "problem with import". Your pop up says converted successfully and it appears fine but something isn't the same . I followed your directions to Mike several times with the same result. Can you help?
Much appreciated

Changing a file extension does not change the contents within the file.
Changing a file extension does not magically make it some other type of file.
All it does is to change the name of the extension.

So renaming a file name (or extension) will accomplish nothing, in your case.

You need a program that converts docx, in mass, to "plain text".

If have no clue about Word, but maybe it can do it itself?

Seems libreoffice can?
Or various ways in Mac or Linux.
