Tabbing to other App cancels Renaming

It seems very odd to me that a renaming process is cancelled, if I use my keyboard's "Alt + tab" keys to switch to another App or program.

Is this behavior supposed to be like that? I fit is, I would like to make a program feature request that would not be so.
