Accidentally deleted a lot of file extensions

Postby Lennart5 » Thu Jan 12, 2012 12:15 am

Hello!

I was just trying to fix my music collection, because I had a lot of files that had the .!ut extension, which made the files not-playable. So I tried to use BRU to resolve this issue. I simply typed in .!ut in the 'Extension' part of the program, and selected the remove option. I then ticked subfolders, and after the scanning was done I selected all the files and pushed rename. Unfortunately, now the file extensions of about 90% of my music files is gone. I was so stupid to close the program before checking, so I couldn't 'Undo rename'. Is there some way to undo this renaming so I can listen to my music again?

Thanks in advance!

I think Extension(11)[Remove] [!ut] will not remove "!ut" but just removes any extension.
I think the field right of Extension(11) is only taken for [Fixed and Extra] extensions options.
It's good to take an close look at the preview before pressing the rename button. Better yet to have an backup.

What happens if you just add an MP3 extensions: Extension(11)[Fixed] [mp3] ?
