Incorrect Date Taken on Windows 7?

Postby DwightAH » Fri Apr 02, 2010 4:09 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to sort and rename a large series of JPGs based upon the embedded Date Taken (EXIF data) and while I do have the Extract exif data photos selected, Bulk Rename Utility 2.7.1.1 is displaying the file system Date Modified information in the Taken (Original) column.

No Timestamp options are enabled on the Options menu.

Windows 7's Explorer, Picassa, and various other utilities are able to show the true Date Taken for the photos.

What do I need to do in order to get BRU to show the actual Date Taken from the photos?

Thanks,

Dwight

Thank you for asking but no, the FAQ question 3 is not my problem. I DO have Options > Extract > Exif data (Photos) ENABLED and still am getting incorrect information in the column...it is displaying the modified information in both the Modified and Taken (Original) columns.

Windows Explorer and Picassa both show the true Date Taken in each jpg file.

Now what?

Thanks,
Dwight

Hi,

I've been using BRU for a long time now, and just recently moved to Windows 7 and I'm seeing this same problem. The only twist is that the "Date Taken" field is correct when coming directly off the camera, however, once I edit the picture and it gets written back out, then the "Date Taken" field is now incorrect. But .... as mentioned, Windows 7 Explorer still shows the correct "Date Taken" field.

BRU is a great piece of software, and I'd like to continue using it, but this would have to be fixed.

Thanks!

Hello,

I'm also a long time user and am experiencing the same problem on Windows 7, ie the "Date Taken" column contains the modified date of the file. Looks like the EXIF extraction is not working correctly.

Would be great if this could be fixed!
