How to insert folder name in file name

Hi,

After reading through the various threads, this great app has helped me with renaming lots of folders and saved me a lot of typing, I have managed to change folders with names, forename, surname, Initials and double barrel names to the right way I want them, took me a few hours trying different things as I don't have a clue about Regex...

Now that I have them the way I want them I was wondering if it is possible to insert the name of the folder to the files inside, at the moment I just have the names of the files and I would like to work out how to do this...

Example
Folder (Name) to Files (Name of Folder - Filename)

Hope you understand what I'm trying to do...

Hi Jay, welcome.

I don't understand what you want to show whit your example...

but try


Append Folder Name (9)
Name: Prefix
Sep: ' - '


This would rename
FROM:
X:\path\to\my\sub folder\file.ext
TO:
X:\path\to\my\sub folder\sub folder - file.ext

If you need more help provide an real example of your folder path and file name - before and how it should be after the renaming.

And... -please - use an more suitable thread subject next time! And try to modify the current one to smtg like: "HowTo insert folder name" or like this
so other who have the same issue may find this thread too, like they have done:

Sorry about thread title

I did discover the "Apend Folder Name" (9) and put in the Sep: ' - ' which is what I was after but I thought I could do a batch rename...

From your reply I clicked on this thread http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=642&p=2388&hilit=insert+folder#p2388 and it has now answered my request perfectly, I forgot to uncheck "Folders" from the Append menu...

This has worked brilliantly...
