"Remove" Limit of 13?

Postby raywood » Fri Jan 21, 2011 2:04 pm

I am using BRU in Windows 7. I select some files to rename. In the Remove area, I type From 2 and To 13. For the selected files, New Name is now different from Name. Very good. Now I increase the To value to 14, 15, or any larger number. No change. It seems that numbers above 13 in the To field are treated as 13. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi, if the file extension is reached, any number above 13 is irrelevant. It would only be significant in files with name > 13.

OK, that's a funny one. "Why won't it remove these nonexistent characters?" Seriously, though, the later characters are unfazed. Seems like a new problem. I'm sure I've used BRU before in similar circumstances ... wait, let me try on another computer. Yeah, same thing there. After the 13th character, forget it. This is 32-bit BRU version 2.7.1.1 on Windows 7.

OK, that's strange, just tested on Windows 7 too and it seems to work fine. Can you please post some file names to try and attached a screen shot of the BRU issue to this post? thanks!
