New TimeStamp options

Postby BRUFolio » Thu Jan 18, 2007 1:27 pm

I just upgraded to 2.4.2.0.....
I cannot figure out how to set the new timestamp dialog so that i can select only one item to modify and the other two dates will reflect that one change.
In fact, i am at a loss as to how the logic of the options on the right work.
I read the help but it didn't help me.
I did understand the old dialog, but the three new options to the right i don't understand their use...

Hi,

It's all very straightforward. Everything works exactly as it used to, except you can now say "Set the Created date to be whatever the Modified date is" and "set the Modified and Access dates to whatever the Created date is".

Howdy,

That is what I thought, but, when I try to do that, with the dialog set so:

When i press OK I get this warning, which suggests that it won't work correctly:

HOWEVER, it turns out to work correctly, but it is the preview that is not working. in other words, the colored dates do not show all three dates to be set to the same date/time/stamp as "created"

Here is what the preview shows with the above setting:

but after going ahead and doing the rename, they are all set to this.

so, the problem is perhaps only in the colored preview???????

The warning message is being shown incorrectly. It should only bes displayed if you have "Set created to modified" and you are also updating the Modified timestamp.

It's basically saying that the results are unpredictable due to the sequence the logic is processed. All that's happening is you are seeing the warning when you shouldn't be.

What about the preview not displaying the end results correctly?

I'll take a look when I get a moment. There's unlikely to be any work done on BRU for a few weeks, but I'll make sure I look into this when I can.
