renaming photo files

Postby auctionjohn » Tue Oct 24, 2017 1:43 am

I have a list of photo files as follows"=:
1.jpg
2.jpg
2a.jpg
2b.jpg
3.jpg
4.jpg
4a.jpg
4b.jpg
4c.jpg
4d.jpg
etc
The file numbers are followed by an alpha character if there is more than one picture in a subset, as in multiple photos of the same auction item. My uploading feature to my auction site requires that the photos be numbered as follows:

1.jpg
1_1.jpg
2.jpg
2_1.jpg
2_2.jpg
2_3.jpg

where each additional photo of the same item is numbered with an underline and a sequential number. The first number changes when I photo a new auction item. My file currently consists of over 1,700 items and 2,500 photos. Can anyone help this newbie? I've used this tool once before and found it to be very simple. But this has me scratching my head. Thanks in advance for any help.

Perhaps...

1:RegEx
Code: Select all
Match:  (^\d+)
Replace:  \1_

10:Numbering
Code: Select all
Mode:  Suffix

The problem is you'll end up with something like:

2_1.jpg
2_2.jpg
2_3.jpg
2_4.jpg

where:

2.jpg ---> 2_1.jpg

rather then being left as is:

2.jpg ---> 2.jpg
