Bulk Rename Utility 64-bit Crashes

Postby dragon5018 » Sat Dec 09, 2017 5:17 am

I am a novice user so apologies in advance.

I have not used BRU since the regular automatic update to10.0.16299.2.0.0.256.48, (windows 10 Fall Creators Update). Now whenever I try to use BRU 64-bit the program crashes immediately it tries to scan a folder, any folder including the desk top. If I try to use the right-click context menu "Bulk Rename Here" in a folder with only one .jpg file the App crashes.

I have posted the information from the W10 reliability report in case this helps.

Any ideas please?

I don't believe that it has anything to do with the particular jpg. The crash occurs when you select any folder or single file in the BRN folder tree. Scanning any file type .txt, .jpg, etc. will cause the crash. I really believe that the upgrade of the OS on my machine to version 1709, the Fall Creators Update has caused the issue. BRU worked just fine before the update to Windows 10 Version 1709, I know for a fact BRU worked just fine in version 1607 of W10. I have completely uninstalled BRU and then reinstalled ... the issue is the same. When I figure out how to attach the jpg file I will send it to support as you requested. Do you have a BRU specific diagnostic tool that can be used?

Cheers
