[solved] Rename files in subfolders all at once

Postby Dragster » Wed May 02, 2018 4:56 pm

I often have to rename files in a string of subfolders which are located in one parentfolder.

At the moment I rename those files by selecting each subfolder and rename the files.
all the subfolders' files have a numeric naming convention starting with 01 or 001.

Is there a way to create a filter to rename the files in all the subfolders at once,
giving the files in each seperate subfolder the same numeric naming string starting with 01-... or 001-... and up.

I often wondered why such an evident renaming didnt seem to be available in BRU.

Parden my french :D

Not quite following what you're looking to do, but does Rename and move files based on parent folder? cover it?

Set your folder to your parentfolder.
Then also in 12:, I'm thinking you're going to want the Subfolder option too.

12:Filters
Subfolders, checkmark

What I mean is that all the files in the folders shown above can be renamed all at once.
Giving each group of files in each seperate folder the same numeric repeating string: 001, 002, 003... and so on.

Try... ?

2:Name
Remove

12:Filters
Files & Subfolders

10:Numbering
Prefix
Start:1
Pad:3
Folder (checkmark)

That will rename the files in each directory, individually, starting at 001.ext ... 999.ext.

Woehoe

That seems to solve it. :)

The last step: 'check folder', did the trick.
I have to ponder on that one a bit because I dont really comprehend that option. :?:
The other options I already used/tjekked/understand.

thx very much
