text file with subfolders

Postby jvphobic » Fri Jun 28, 2019 10:29 pm

I have about 500K files that need to be renamed. They are in subfolders that look like this: D:\day-month-year\0000001.tif. Each day starts with 00000001.tif and goes up from there depending how many files were added that day. I have a database that I can export to a text file to create the "new name"|"old name" file that is required because it includes the directories. That part isn't a problem.

My question is can that text file point to the sub-directory.
1-4-2000\00000001.TIF|1243649_Page1.TIF
1-4-2000\00000002.TIF|1243650_Page1.TIF
1-4-2000\00000003.TIF|1243651_Page1.TIF
1-5-2000\00000001.TIF|1243652_Page1.TIF
1-5-2000\00000002.TIF|1243653_Page1.TIF
1-5-2000\00000003.TIF|1243654_Page1.TIF
1-5-2000\00000004.TIF|1243655_Page1.TIF

I have tried the full path name and different options in Bulk Rename GUI. Is this possible? Or is it not possible due to the subdirectory structure?

Help?

You're speaking about using the import-pairs feature?

Have you set up a simple test-case, with subdirectories & paths in the names, to see what happens?

I have. I tried with the full path and the relative path to the root folder. Neither seem to work when I highlight them. And I don't want to go thru and do this folder by folder seeing as how we have 15 years of data (and each day is a folder).
