Files on network

Postby cmg » Tue Sep 10, 2019 6:56 pm

Hi

Win 10, 64bits
BRU 3.1.0.0.
Even with adm. mode, the program doesn´t see files within directories on a NAS. Even through the explorer, "Bulk Rename Here" the program cannot see the files. Very anoying.
How to fix this?
Thanks
Regards

Drag & drop, from NAS to BRU.

You could map a drive then use that drive letter in BRU.

Hello,
The option to drag & drop works, but is risky and there are limits to the selection of files to be treated in a single pass.
Copying and past the remote UNC path into the left panel address box(at the top) don't work also.
The correct option would be to conform to the windows standard and display on the left window pane the network windows structure. (default procedure under my computer/file explorer)
I know that will require work from the developers, but it would add be a very useful addition since a lot of people do use NAS/DAS or remote file servers in today's environments.
I hope to get the necessary attention from the developers and have this added to this great and useful application.

Cheers
Thales

This feature to rename files on a network should be added to enhance the capability of BRU.

This was added to version 3.4.1.0: BRU can now rename files on network paths, without needing to map a drive.

Hello,

i am trying to use BRU (3.4.2.0) also to rename files on an nas (WD cloud ex2) from a win10 machine.
the nas is seen in explorer as network folder but this is not available in BRU
Even though the last post states this should have been fixed from 3.4.1.0
am i doing something wrong?

Hi, can you paste the path to NAS into the top bar in BRU? Or select it with jump to path? thanks

There is still an issue with network paths and it would be great if it is addressed. While copying and pasting to the top address bar works for regular SMB paths, this does not work for hidden paths in Windows. Those paths have a ($) dollar sign symbol at the end of the path. It is still necessary to map a drive if you wish to open a path that has the dollar sign at the end.

Hello,
I'm still having issues on this. I have a network drive over VPN but I can't get it to work in BRU.

My network is 192.168.1.X with netmask 255.255.255.0 and the drive is on 192.168.2.1. The router handles the VPN so that if I ping 192.168.2.1 I get the response and even if I type \\192.168.123.1\MyFolder in the file explorer, I get to see the files and work on them.
Though BRU does not allow me to work on this folder even if I type the \\192.168.123.1\MyFolder in the address bar.

Any chances to see this come to life? :)

Thanks!

Forgive me, I mistyped the paths... here I corrected them. The previous post can be deleted...
