This useful feature was reintroduced with 3.2.0.0, and 3.2.0.1 is unchanged:
From changelog: 3.2.0.0. + Re-enabled clicking on the selected file to manually rename it.
My principal reason for using this feature is to allow the copying of a complicated string of unwanted text from a filename. That text can then be removed or edited for many files. This is a very valuable feature. The bug also prevents simply editing the existing name by using the mouse. I will try to explain.
Long ago it used to work. One could click on a file, then click on the start of the text and drag to select the string, then Ctrl+C to copy it. Perfect.
Then the feature was partly removed. One had to remember to click on the filename, then press F2, and then carry on. Not quite as good but it worked fine.
Now the feature doesn't work. When one clicks on the filename it is highlighted. But one cannot then click on a position in the text, the click is simply ignored. The only way to do it now is to:
- Click on the filename.
- Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to move to the start position in the string.
- Hold down Shift while using arrow keys to move to the end of the string.
- Ctrl+C
Please could it go back to how it used to work originally? I use this a lot. Thanks.
