Bulk Rename Utility

I have 3 files (F1.txt, F2.txt and F3.txt) in C:\Directory1

The Rename-Pair is

F1.txt|F1.txt
F3.txt|F3.txt

No change in the filename.

In 'Copy/Move to location (13)' I choose Move to 'C:\Directory2'

In the file list, I select all.

Result : All 3 files are moved.

F2.txt, not listed in the Rename-Pair, should not be moved.

If I'm reading correctly, so long as F2.txt had been selected - even though it is not subject to be renamed, it too will be moved.

And if that is the case, deselect F2.txt prior to performing the rename (move, in your case).


(I'm not totally sure on this, so test & see how it pans out.)
(And at this point, I don't even recall if Rename-pairs allows individual selections, perhaps not.)

(If all you're doing is wanting to move files around, I'd think there are better utilities for that purpose, like a file manager.)

Hi, at the moment, using renaming pairs works like this:
a) go through all selected files (only selected files).
b) check against the imported renaming list if the file needs renaming.
c) show the new name in the new name column.
d) if the user then selects 'Rename' then files will be renamed according to new column.

So in your example, none of the files would be renamed because F2.txt is not on the list and
F1.txt|F1.txt
F3.txt|F3.txt
do not need renaming.

The renaming list is not used for file selection but for renaming input.

In your case, because you have enabled the option to move the files and then selected all of them, then they all be moved (but not renamed).

As a workaround, I copy the list of the files to be moved in the clipboard and use 'Acions' ; 'Select from clipboard' and it works.
