I can't rename for text file (rename pairs)

Windows 10
BRU Version 3.4.1.0

1. Action > Import Rename-Pairs
2. A RED notice next to the program info appears.
3. I can see the Imported rename-pairs using "View Imported Rename Pairs" (or double clicking the red notice)
4. I select the files I want to rename but nothing happens. Also the rename button is greyed out.

I have tried it with ANSI, with UTF, with few files (10), with many files (100), I have unistalled and reinstalled BRU, I used older BRU versions, but nothing. Always the same. The text file is imported, I can see the pairs, but the selected files are not renamed.

Any suggestion?

If you display the list of imported pairs, what does it show, is it correctly imported? thanks

Yes, the pairs are imported correctly.
I have found the problem(s):
1. The names have to be without spaces
2. The imported pairs (text file) have to have file extension (ie .eml)
But now I have another issue. I managed to rename the titles through imported pairs, but the names at file properties remained unchanged. So, as the files are email messages (I have exported them from email client to rename them), when I import the renamed messages back to email client, the email client shows the names of the file properties (unchanged) and not the titles. And the problem is that I can't delete (erase) file properties (at least at 64bit windows10).

Hi,
by 'titles' do you mean file name?
Which file property is used by the mail software to display the name of the email?

The file name was: OLDNAME.eml
The new name (title) is: TITLE(=New name).eml
But at Properties at Details tab

PROPERTY: VALUE
Name: OLDNAME (unchanged)
Type: E-mail Message
Folder path: C\Users\
Size: 184 KB
Date created: 27/11/2020 23:21
Date modified: 26/11/2020 09:46
Attributes: A
Owner: SSSSSSS
Computer: SSSSSSS

This is happening because the Property Name is the Subject of the email. If I change the file extension (ie from .eml to .txt or .pdf) then Properties show the New Name (title). But if I change back to .eml, then Properties show again the Old Name.

I have tried to Remove Properties and Personal Information, for the Properties to "take" the New Name, but it is not possible.

What email client?

When you say Properties, this is a Properties dialog that this email client brings up ?
I.e., this is not a Windows Explorer Properties window?

What does Windows Explorer, Properties, show for the renamed file, the old or the new name?

Hi,
Very powerful software, but I sucked a long while with the same problem: a greyed "Rename" button! Why don't you mention in the manual that the pairing file needs the complete name files with the extension?
If it could help I"m ready to give a little hand at translating in french.
