How do I do this?

I have the following files, as an example:

Michael Martin Murphey - Carolina In The Pines.mp3
Michael Martin Murphey - Desert Rat.mp3
Michael Martin Murphey - Medicine Man.mp3
Michael Martin Murphey - Night Thunder.mp3
Michael Martin Murphey - Rings Of Life.mp3
Michael Martin Murphey - Secret Mountain Hideout.mp3
Michael Martin Murphey - Wild Bird.mp3
Michael Martin Murphey - Without My Lady There.mp3

I want to rename only the first part of the name. ie.,

"Michael Martin Murphey" to
"Michael Murphey"

However, when I tried to do this, the utility removed the song name completely.

Hi,

Lots of ways to do this, but the simplest is just a replacement. Choose to replace Murphey with an empty string.
